Summer Soles* | Just Add Ginger

If you know me, then you instantly recognise that ankle boots have pretty much become my shoe trademark over the past year. As I got a little older, and consecutive nights out at the student union faded into the distance, I began to realise that the five inch heels I used to totter around in would have to go in to retirement, and instead, it was time to opt for a more "sensible" yet chic shoe option.

As a lady with self-confessed "massive trotters", comfort is always key when it comes to footwear. So many times I have been drawn to a shoe because of the way it looks, but, as soon as I've taken them home, I've come to realise that it is just too narrow for my poor tootsies, and that I would just never build up the resistance to be able to take them out.

Sole Diva Boots

So when JD Williams got in touch and asked if I wanted to try out a pair of boots over the summer, I instantly jumped at the chance. It doesn't matter what time of year it is....I love me some ankle boots, and I really do believe that having a classic pair in your collection will instantly shake up your style and ensure that you always look put together, even on your off-duty days.

For the sunnier season (if we really indeed have those in England) I like to keep my style simple and elegant, and use ankle boots as an accessory to accent colours used in the rest of my outfit. This summer, I have practically been living in dresses or black skinny jeans. And this is where this pair of Sole Diva boots have played their part so well. In a classic black, with mid block heel, contrast sole and back panel featuring playful texture, they've really added extra depth to my clothing choices. Perfect for day or nighttime wear, I've practically lived in these over the past few months.

For the day, I keep hemlines mini or just below the knee. A fan of both body-con and A-line silhouettes, the cut of my dresses has showed off a bit of skin without going too OTT for my personal comfort levels. Some may think that a pair of ankle boots worn with a shorter skirt may cut you off at the wrong place in the leg, but I really like the slightly edgier feel. And the soft fabric choice really helps soften the overall effect.

But its never just about appearance is it? Comfort is ultimately key, and one of the reasons I've waited so long to upload this post is because I've wanted to make sure I fully tested the comfort factor of these boots to the max. After a full few months taking them for a spin, it's pretty evident that these are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. It's a big claim, but from the super-cushiony sole to the height of the heel, you can put these boots on first thing in the morning and still feel just as supported by the evening. They have been a joy to wear, and my love for them is pretty evident in that the lining inside one of the boots has already worn away!

I never really ventured on to the JD Williams website before these boots, but now I definitely would see them as a serious contender for filling my winter shoe wardrobe. With a range of brands, sizes and widths that cater for us ladies with the less narrow foot, their selection has something for everyone.

Click here to take a peek at the selection yourself. Which ones are catching your eye?

* I was very kindly sent these boots by JD Williams for review on JAG. This is no way affects my opinions. They are always 100% honest and informed by my personal experiences.

Blogtember 2013: Fall Fashion Picks

"Share links to your favorite online shops, preferably with a few photos of your favorite items in each shop."

It's no secret....

I absolutely love clothes.....

...and shoes....and bags....and accessories... I love it all!

But when it comes to buying fashion pieces, I'm still a high street girl at heart. Nothing beats going to a shop and trying things on, rummaging through rails, and discovering that the shop has only one of your size left in that dress you love, and you've found it!

I do like a good browse online though. ASOS has been a favourite for years. I think their website is fantastic, and I love finding gems on there, and waiting for them to arrive in the post. It's the online store I religiously buy from every few months, because I am always so impressed with their collections and the quality of their clothing. The only time I have ever had to send anything back is when the sizing has been wrong.

I do also love looking on the H&M website. I was so happy when it launched, as I find that one H&M stores carry stock that sometimes I can't find in others. It's good to have all their clothing together in one place to look at so that I know what to look for when I go in to the shop itself!

These are my favourite online clothing stores, but I'm also a big fan of:

LUSH: https://www.lush.co.uk/
AMAZON: http://www.amazon.co.uk/
YANKEE CANDLE: http://www.yankeecandle.co.uk/

(I've yet to pop my Yankee Candle cherry, but I love looking on the website at all the amazing candles they sell and imagining what they smell like! *candle swoon*)

What are your favourite online stores?

Blogtember 2013: If I were a Rich Girl

I'm always looking for new and exciting ways to challenge myself as a blogger.

Sometimes, it's so easy for life to take over from writing. Especially when there are other things that need to be done during the day. I sometimes feel really inspired to write when I'm doing other things, and then when I'm free to write, all motivation goes flying out the window, and I end up half-asleep on the sofa.

I found The Blogtember Challenge over at Story of my Life and I simply could not let the opportunity for a challenge pass me by. So, henceforth, September shall be a month of being an ultimate blogger! (Follow the link if you want to join in too!)

I missed yesterday's topic, but today's (4th September) is:

"If you could take three months off from your current life and do anything in the world,
what would you do? (bonus points for fun photos from Pinterest, but don't forget to cite the source!)"

There is no question about what I would do.... And of course, I'd have to be pretty rich to be able to take 3 months off. So with that in mind, and a huge amount of funds at my disposal, this is what I'd do...

....Travel To The Places I Love!

Starting first of course, with a first class flight over to de Efteling in The Netherlands.

It is by far the most amazing place on Earth for me. I have such fond and happy memories there, and just being in the grounds of this amazing places makes me feel all giddy and lit-up inside.

I'd go on all the rides at least 3 times, eat in every restaurant/cafe, load my camera up with photographs and my suitcase up for souvenirs. I'd have to stay in the Efteling hotel, and would take Boyfriend along with me for the trip. I'm always talking about Efteling and how much I love it, so I think it's really important I take him to share in this experience with me.

After my stay at Efteling, I'd hop on a private jet and fly straight to Australia

I have only ever been to Australia once, in 2005, to visit my Auntie and my cousin who live out there. I'd fly out to Perth to see them first, then fly over to Falls Creek to visit my friend, who is currently out there. I'd stay for a month, eat amazing food, drink wine, and spend time with lots of lovely people before learning how to snowboard and ski one-handed!

And then, for the last month of my adventure, I'd get on my jet and fly to

NEW YORK CITY

I've already been there twice, but New York is one of those places I could go back to over and over again and not get bored. I love it there....the atmosphere...the people..the food...all of it just makes me so happy!

I'd stay right next to Central Park, drink Cosmopolitans, eat at fancy restaurants every night, and finish off the trip with a visit to the Louboutain shop to buy myself my dream pair of shoes!

I'd spend days wandering around Central Park, sitting on rocks, reading books in the sunshine, and taking in the sights.

I wouldn't go alone either. I'd make sure all my closest girliefriends came with me. We'd go near Christmas of course so that we could see all the amazing Christmas decorations and soak in the festive atmosphere!

So there you have it. With unlimited funds and the option to go wherever I wanted, and do anything, this is what I would do.

They do say home is where the heart is.

Ahhh...

....If I were a rich girl.....

Spring Nights Lookbook

It has been March for ten days now. I ca hardly believe we are here already. Spring is definitely on the way!

Woohoo!

Although it WAS snowing today, but still. I'm sure it was a blip on the weather radar.... finger crossed.

Spring brings with it a great opportunity for re-birth. And at the moment, I feel like my fashion boundaries are in labour (without the terrible pain.) So with that in mind, I've brought together a Lookbook of outfits I intend to try out/have tried already for the new season. You will notice that some of the pieces and accessories are the same. I am a STRONG believer in owning items that can be worn over and over, and always try to get my cost per wear!

Look One

 Hat: Topshop
Blazer: H&M
Waist Belt: ASOS
Skater Dress: Primark
Tights: ASOS
Jewellery: Primark

(I wore this look on Friday night and LOVED it. The hat was particularly popular. It got a lot of action!)

Look Two

Bodycon dress: ASOS
Black Tights: M&S
Peeptoe Heels: New Look

This bodycon dress does ALL the talking, so if I wear this out, I'd keep accessories to a bare minimum. At most, I'd make a statement with a bold lip or smokey eye, but no more. Too much and I don't think I could pull it off.

Look Three

Hat: Topshop
Bodycon dress: H&M
Flower cuff: Primark
Ring: New Look (I think)
Black tights: M&S
Shoe boots: New Look

This dress makes such a statement on its own that you don't need to be ostentatious with anything else or you'll draw attention away from it. I'd go for understated jewellery, and my new Topshop hat to coimpliment the punk/rock feel of the dress, and keep my hair a little bit unkempt and wild!!

Look Four

Hat: Topshop
Green tunic/dress: H&M (in the Netherlands)
Ring: New Look (I think)
Flower cuff: Primark
Black tights: M&S
Peeptoe Heels: New Look

This dress is very, very short. It is not for the faint hearted. Again, I'm keeping accessories simple in this look so it doesn't look overwhelming. If it was chilly out, I'd team this with the black blazer from Look One,  to mix in a bit of masculine with the feminine.

Look Five

Hat: Topshop
Blazer: H&M
Printed skater dress: Primark
Waist belt: ASOS
Black tights: M&S
Knee high socks: Primark
Shoe boots: New Look
Flower cuff: Primark
Ring: New Look (I think)

This look is very similar to Look One, which is probably why I like it so much. Although this time, I've teamed it with a pair of knee high socks instead of statement tights. I really like the idea of taking a super girly dress and teaming it with a dark, longline blazer. It adds a casual touch, and the masculine style of the blazer constrasts with the feminine quality of the dress. This is probably my favourite look, because it is so versatile. Definitely a Day to Night ensemble!

New Year Resolutions 2013

Hello Everyone!

And Happy New Year!

I can't believe this is my first post in 2013!!! That's sooooo crazy! I would have liked to post right at the start of the year, but guess what?!

I only went and got ill! How lame am I?

For my first post back, it's Resolutions time. Sharing these, and writing them down means they are inescapable, and hopefully, I'll be more inclined to stick to them!

Resolutions 2013!!!

Be healthier: I make this resolution EVERY year, and I don't get any better at sticking to it. But this year I am going to...but gradually. Being ill has made me realise that I really should care more about what I eat/how much water I drink/my exercise, and instead of doing EVERYTHING at once, I'm going to break myself in....slowly!!

Stay in bed: I am notorious for being a person with a "waking up and getting up" mentality. It's almost like I don't know how to lie in. This year, I'm going to make sure I have lazy weekends lounging around in my onesie, mornings of mooching in bed watching a movie....my body deserves a break from my weekday early morning wake up call!

Fashion Confidence: I don't know what quite happened towards the end of last year, but I decided that I was daring enough to want to wear red lipstick. The only time I've ever worn red is for dance shows, so this was a big step for me!

I love the way wearing red lipstick made me feel. So this year, I'm going to be more confident and make more daring fashion choices. I've already invested in a mock-leather jacket, and a pair of killer spiked platforms (WITHOUT a strap!! Eeee!) Let's see what else I can accomplish!

What are your resolutions this year?

Ginger's Jollies: Weekend Wonders!

My time in London is coming to an end. It has been a fantastic couple of days. I've met up with friends, braved the chaos that is Oxford Street, and stuffed my face with lots of delicious food (I even took the leftovers home.)

It's beautiful weather down here today. I'm going to go out in a bit to make the most of the lovely weather. I've got a very long train journey ahead of me this afternoon, and no doubt when I get home it will be raining!

C'est la vie!

Just wanted to share a few random pictures from my weekend; a kind of summary for you I suppose! I have lots I want to tell you when I get back home too, so watch out for those posts!

I found these shoes in the back of my wardrobe last week. I've had them for years, but forgot about them.

I'm sorry, beautiful shoes! How could I forget about you?

They are comfortable - for a few hours -  but then my feet start to hurt. I do have ridiculously fat toes though (seriously, they are like giant's toes,) so maybe that's why...?!

I have had this obsession with clouds for the past week. I can't get enough of them. I could stare at them all day, looking for pictures in them! I also decided to get a bit creative with my camera settings. I only have a basic digital camera, but found a setting that creates a kind of fade-out in the photos. So I thought I'd give it a try, see how they would come out.

And why not, eh?

Last night I went out with two of my girlie friends for some dinner. We actually ended up in a different restaurant to the one I had booked because the first restaurant decided they had lost my booking - I was not impressed! Both my friends told me I had a face that just read "Are you kidding me."

Feeling the wrath of the Ginger!! Mwahahaha!!

What do you all think of the title for this post? I thought of it in about two seconds (haha), but thought it summed up quite well what I wanted to say...

If you like it/want to see more post like this, let me know!

Happy Sunday Everybody!
